Assistant Quality Manager
Job Objective
The Assistant Quality Systems Manager at Manor Farm is responsible for helping to deliver safe, legal and authentic products, via the management and full implementation of the Food Safety management system (formerly QMS). You will support processes, and help to ensure standards are developed, implemented monitored and improved to position Manor Farm as market leader in delivering high quality safe products to our customers as part of the systems team.
Duties and Responsilbiltes
Performance
- Support with development, implementation, and management of food safety management systems (FSMS) in accordance with current legislation, and to prescribed standards including certification standards, customer standards and industry best practise standards to develop policies, procedures and SOP’s and relevant records to ensure the requirements of an effective FSMS is documented and recorded satisfactorily.
- Ensure all aspects of the FSMS are fully understood, communicated, cascaded, implemented and demonstrate continuous improvement.
- Member of HACCP, VACCP and TACCP teams and activities related to these standards.
- Member of Internal auditing team
- Support the approval of suppliers and participating in the supplier evaluation process.
- Support the approval of raw material ingredient specifications ensuring alignment with customer specifications.
- Support NPD function to aid and advise on the development of new products or process is in line with food safety best practice.
- Support third party audits on visits with regulatory authorities (DAFM, FSAI, HSE) / legal compliance including regulatory/ 3rd party and customer audits and inspections
- Support the effective and sustainable close out of all internal and external audit non-conformance investigations.
- Support the management of the pre-requisite/operational pre-requisite on site delegating the tasks the technical team to ensure food safety controls are maintained and improved in line with regulatory, certification, customer and industry expectations.
- Regulatory compliance – staying up to date with regulatory changes and industry best practices to ensure that managers actively monitor changes and adjust processes to maintain compliance and industry best practice.
- Pio update approval to maintain control of durability date and best practice. Working closely with the supply chain, logistics and dispatch operators to troubleshoot issues with shipments and control manual shipping lines.
- Ensure certification standard compliance is maintained on site at all times.
- Help with planning and execution of annual allergen and claim validation works.
- Work closely with other departments providing technical guidance, training and support to develop awareness and understanding of technical concerns.
- Advise on CAPA through co-ordinating with Customer Support, QA managers and support teams and production department to address and resolve complaints effectively.
- Build up relationship and work close together with key internal stakeholders (Procurement, Production, Engineering, NPD, Sales and Quality) delivering quality improvements across the value chain.
- Monitor compliance of traceability systems, log, trend and communicate results.
- Conduct mass balance exercises as part of customer traceability tests and routinely to verify product “claims”.
- Export account management.
- Liaising with Agro Merchants on our frozen export stocks and customers.
- Producing certificates of conformity for our export customers when required (providing batch numbers, use by dates and requested details from the health certificates or orders) and liaising with veterinary officers in relation to same when exporting to “3rd countries”
- Producing Trace documents for shipping via UK Landbridge
- Working closely with the Head of logistics and dispatch operators to troubleshoot issues with shipments and control manual shipping lines
- Manage the update and prepare quality performance reports including relevant KPI trending etc. Attendance and presentation at weekly KPI meeting
- Pest control management
- Project work as required.
Quality
- Create and implement best practice policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
- Ensure that quality strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of customer complaints and targets.
Compliance
- Participating in investigations across the value chain as decided or needed, including. identifying root causes, reporting and follow up on decided corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct training and instructions of relevant policies and SOP’s with the site team as required.
- Work to prevent non-conformances, customer complaints, and rework alongside Operations. Develop and maintain procedures and processes to required standards, ensuring companywide compliance to standards.
- Ensure that corrective actions are delivered, and non-compliance issues are resolved on time.
- Comply with company reporting needs
- Proactively identify and correct risks and participate in improvement projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience
2-3 years experience in a Quality role in the food industry.
Experience of working in a fast-paced factory environment.
Experience in customer role would be beneficial.
Experience in the meat industry is an advantage
Educational Qualifications
Formal 3rd level qualification in food science/technology, food engineering or related discipline
